DJ SC

DJ Scott
Senior DJ

Few DJs can say they’ve shared an evening of entertainment duties with Sir Elton John – SC is one of those few.

Entrusted with some of Calgary’s most important and high profile DJ gigs, SC has blazed an impressive trail of successful performances in a career spanning over 25 years that includes countless nightclubs, events, festivals, concerts, parties and other special occasions.

Having started DJ-ing at the age of 13, he was operating his own mobile company at age 18 and making waves in the Calgary music, events, nightlife and social scene by age 20. Word of mouth has also afforded SC many travel and appearance opportunities across Canada and abroad.

SC has been highly sought after for some of the Calgary area’s most celebrated social outings including the annual Bill Brooks Prostate Cancer event, Calgary Opera’s Grave Gala and World Cup Skiing events hosted by Alpine Canada every year out at Lake Louise.

In addition to being given opening DJ responsibilities at many of Calgary’s newest hotspots to train and ensure a smooth launch, over the years, SC has resided at many of Calgary’s best bars, pubs and establishments, including a 10-year residency at legendary Calgary nightspot The Crazy Horse. To this day, people will still refer to a certain way of DJ style as “Crazy Horse music” on account of SC’s skill and lasting musical impressions.

SC has also had the honor of being the DJ of choice for many nights provided to and hosted for celebrities and musical artists passing through Calgary – celebrities and artists such as Cuba Gooding Jr., Jackie Chan, Kevin Costner, Nelly Furtado and Run DMC. SC also recently had the pleasure of sharing music duties with Sir Elton John at a private event near Calgary contracted through Pez Productions.

Born into a musical family, and having been trained on several instruments at a young age, SC eventually became more immersed in the art of DJ-ing as it offered more flexibility and creativity in expressing the wide array of musical influences he had started to accumulate as a young musician. It’s that extensive list of influences – from ABBA to Zeppelin, Van Halen to Van Morrison, from Prince to Queen, Police to Arrested Development, from Black Keys to White Stripes and everything in between – along with a world-class music library that gives him the ability to read and react to any crowd at any event and play any genre with seamless ease and refinement. His musical knowledge is literally infinite as he continues to collect, study and discover, self-proclaiming himself as a certified ”music junky”.

When SC isn’t gracing the decks he’s busy in his studio creating and producing his own music or helping other artists and radio stations flex their musical muscles.

Falling in love with the old days of Dance Mix’s 94-96, the Vengaboys, Blank and Jones, ATB and Alice Deejay, and then to one of his all-time favorites; the Mortal Kombat soundtrack, music quickly became an obsession and he dedicated himself to the industry.

His career began in 2005 through a couple of friends; who all had the same idea to start working towards music production and the DJ scene. Not being satisfied with the culture or the music Calgary venues had to offer, they decided they wanted to change the scene, and so the long journey began. Faulkenham started taking DJ lessons at AXE music through Jon Delirious a local and very successful DJ/Producer. Two classes in, he bought his first set of CDJ-800’s and a Behringer mixer which led to numerous hours spent in the basement working on a perfect mix.

Learning the basics of reading a crowd from playing at various house parties, birthdays, weddings and small pubs, he refined his talent and increased his dedication. With his extreme obsession for electro, dubstep, dutch and house music, he was able to play whatever he enjoyed with a crowd that enjoyed it. Getting his first break and landing a residency at a small pub called Paddy O Leary’s, Faulkenham learned the ropes of playing a variety of sounds such as 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s giving him more versatility in his art.

Flash forward and now Faulkenham has played in many of Calgary’s top hot spots including Sals on 17th , The Metropolitan Grill, Flames Central, Ten, Vicious Circle, The Bank, Habitat and Opus. Fundraisers also mean a lot to Faulkenham, he enjoys giving back and helping out for a good cause while getting more experience and recognition.

TwoTowers gave Faulkenham opportunities to grow as a promoter/DJ. Shortly after, Faulkenham was offered a residency at Public Social Lounge which was big news for the local DJ. Adding one more connection to his repertoire, Faulkenham joined with Transmission to further his experience in the DJ/Production industry.

Faulkenham is always up for the challenges and changes involved in the industry. He enjoys working with with all audiences to create a fun and exciting atmosphere at any type of event.
